Enviromontel were required to support Secanim with inspections of their confined spaces within there Biomass plant which is based in Widnes, Liverpool.
The confined spaces included in their refurbishment and inspection of their boiler’s, requiring a standby rescue team for extraction from the boiler with a horizontal escape with access to equipment which is supplied from Enviromontel to assist in the case of an emergency, also each member of the working team and rescue team were supplied with a gas monitor suitable for the confined space entry.
The rescue team were in attendance during the refurbishment process and re-commissioning inspection phase whilst the welding team were inside the confined spaces doing maintenance work on the boiler tubes and then doing their final checks of the boiler, whilst these checks were going ahead Enviromontel rescue team required ventilation to be used so that forced ventilation would allow cool air to flow through the boiler to assist the welding team and also the inspection crew from overheating within the confined space entries.
